The news that Mycoplasma bovis has spread to more farms including one in the North Island has farmers anxious to know which properties are affected. However, the Privacy Act means the farms remain anonymous.
Chief executive of DairyNZ Dr Tim Mackle spoke to The Country saying he realises the privacy surrounding the farms is "a source of frustration," for farmers but the Ministry for Primary industries have not told anyone including industry bodies.
"At the end of the day it's the law and MPI have got to work with it," says Dr Mackle.
Also in today's interview: Dr Mackle emphasises the importance of farmer education about Mycoplasma bovis and farm biosecurity and also how the disease doesn't just affect dairy cattle.
