Federated Farmers President Katie Milne doesn't mince words when it comes to the mycoplasma bovis outbreak, saying "it's freaking people out quite frankly."
Milne spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay today about trying to keep farmers calm about the cattle disease by promoting good bio-security on their own farms and reiterating that mycoplasma bovis is not airborne.
Some South Canterbury farmers are keen on a "shoot first and ask questions later" approach to the outbreak and are calling on infected cows to be culled. Milne suggests this idea is "horrific" and will cause unnecessary panic.
