Mike Chapman is focused on getting the message out that water storage is essential for the future of New Zealand's fruit and vegetable supply.
The Horticulture New Zealand CEO spoke to The Country saying "If you don't have water, you can't grow your crops. If you don't have enough water, you can't grow quality crops."

Chapman says only 2 per cent of New Zealand's rain water is used for irrigation, 80 per cent washes out to sea and the last 18 per cent evaporates. He hopes to encourage urban New Zealand to look favourably on water storage and harvesting, saying that "water storage is exactly where New Zealand's got to go to survive economically and environmentally."
