The Country: Mahe Drysdale found gumboot throwing to be a bit trickier than first expected but still gave it a good go like a true champ with this 25 metre attempt.

Mahe Drysdale tried his hand at gumboot throwing this weekend at the Hilux New Zealand Rural Games. The Country host Jamie Mackay caught up with him for a chat about his experience.

Drysdale found the gumboot throwing a bit harder than originally anticipated but he did get better after a bit of practice.

Mahe has been learning about life on the farm recently and has really enjoyed getting out on the land. As a result, the Olympic champion now has an appreciation for farmers and their reliance on the weather.

Other topics in the interview include Mahe's Olympic future and what he plans to do when rowing is no longer an option.
