Another South Canterbury farm has tested positive for Mycoplasma bovis. The farm is reported to be in the Waimate district.
The President of Federated Farmers Katie Milne has been calling for farmers to make their farms a fortress and says the process doesn't have to be "too onerous."
Mycoplasma bovis is a slow moving disease says Milne and disinfecting on and off farm is a good way to minimise contamination. A bigger step is finding out where stock comes from, quarantining any new stock and creating a buffer zone around your boundaries.
