The president of Horticulture New Zealand Julian Raine caught up with The Country's Jamie Mackay today for an update on what has been a very challenging season for fruit and vegetable growers.
The wet conditions haven't been kind to horticulture lately but customers still need produce, whatever the weather. Raine says growers are very aware of this situation and they "get the raincoats out and go on and carry on picking".
Jamie and Julian also talk about housing encroaching on prime horticultural land and New Zealand's water quality. Raine says we need to stop blaming dairy farmers.
