John Wright is usually known as a former international cricketer and legendary cricket coach for both New Zealand and India. Now he's trying his hand as a singer-songwriter.
The Country's Jamie Mackay caught up with Wright today to chat about his latest venture; writing, playing and now touring his new album Red Skies.
Guitar playing was a hobby that helped keep Wright occupied on the road, especially when coaching in India as he found the job quite lonely.
Wright has a rural background and he reckons if cricket "hadn't turned up" he would be back home on the farm as "farming is in my blood".
Finally Jamie and John catch up about a bit of cricket and the first South African test.
