Fonterra's Chairman John Wilson caught up with The Country's Jamie Mackay for a dairy review of 2016.
Even though the latest GDT auction is down 0.5% it has been a positive year for the industry resulting in whole milk powder prices nearly doubling.
Wilson attributes this to farmers ignoring the dairy "doom sayers" and knuckling down and getting on with the job .
Fonterra today is a significantly different business than it was even two or three years ago which allows it to compete globally says Wilson.
