This year Fieldays will be celebrating its 50th anniversary and The Country's Jamie Mackay is hitting the road with The Resilient Farmer Doug Avery to meet some locals and find out where farming has come in the past half-century.
Avery caught up with The Country for a preview of the roadshow and to reassure his bunk mate Mackay that he doesn't snore.
The tour takes place over the next four weekends and the pair will be travelling all over New Zealand from Kerikeri to Invercargill, trying to find out what makes today's farmers tick.
Avery's key message is "what kind of mindset are you travelling with," as the correct state of mind if imperative to dealing with a changing world.
"Change is fearful for a lot of people," says Avery who reckons Fieldays is an "awesome event," to give farmers a break and to "freshen up the mind."
