Fonterra Head of Farm Source for the Taranaki region, Scott Walls joined The Country Early Edition's Andy Thompson for an update on what's happening around his neck of the woods.

A recent NZ Dairy Statistics report revealed that our country's cow numbers are dropping, but the average cow is producing record amounts of milk. Walls says this is a result of really great work around productivity.

Also in today's interview Scott gives Andy an update on Fonterra's new grading system related to Palm Kernel (PKE) and what the co-operative thinks about the theory that reducing cow numbers would answer many environmental issues.
