Hold on to your hearts - it's the 2017 Fieldays Rural Bachelor of the Year! This year the coveted Golden Gumboot went to Fairlie after South Canterbury beef and deer farmer Matthew McAtamney won the competition.
So what makes Matt stand out from the rest of the bachelors? He caught up with The Country's Jamie Mackay for a chat about the competition and how he managed to snare the Golden Gumboot from his fellow rural heart-throbs.
Apparently the judges were taken with Matt's "cheeky sense of humour" which helped him win against the early favourite and People's Choice winner, Australian Gordon Mills.
Matt has also cleaned up in the prizes department and hopes his new farming toys will make his father happy who has been left to look after the farm in his son's absence...
Finally Jamie asks Matt the most pressing question of all - did his new found fame help him with the ladies in Hamilton on Saturday night?
