It's a fact of life that sometimes busy farmers may not get a chance to help an ailing lamb on their property and often nature takes its course.
This is not the case on Matt Wyeth's farm. In fact, Matt, his wife Lynley and their team will go out of their way to pick up sick lambs and nurse them back to life.
"We truly believe we can give every lamb a fighting chance," says Matt.
The Wyeth's have taken this philosophy a step further by setting up a programme at a local Masterton primary school where kids get to raise orphaned lambs as pets.
Once the lamb is back on its feet the children choose to keep it or return it to the Wyeth's farm.
