Gypsy Day is a busy and possibly difficult time for dairy farmers and sharemilkers. Dr Tim Mackle the CEO of DairyNZ spoke to The Country Early Edition's Dom George today about the big "moove" and how it can affect farmers and their families.
Dr Mackle also talks about a worrying trend where rural children are being bullied in schools just because their parents are dairy farmers. Apparently the nature of the bullying comes from the perception that dairy farmers are bad for the environment.
Dr Mackle says that positive public stories need to get out there to counteract this kind of assumption about dairy farming. He explains to Dom how DairyNZ is going about trying to make those stories known.
Finally Dr Tim Mackle chats to Dom about the plight of our native bird population and how positive farming environmental changes have helped.
