Does Roundup cause cancer? There are conflicting reports according to Dr Jacqueline Rowarth who spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay today.
Dr Rowarth says the International Agency for Cancer Research has indicated that glyphosate (Roundup) is carcinogenic. However, the European Food Safety Authority says there is no link to cancer if used appropriately.
Glyphosate is classed in category 2a by the International Agency for Cancer Research which makes it less harmful than category 1 products which include, asbestos, well done meat and...alcohol.
This doesn't mean you should give up meat and beer though as Dr Rowarth explains that moderation is key and if products are used responsibly the risk is minimal.
