It's not surprising Don Carson is excited by the new Government's proposal to plant one billion trees over the next decade as he's the PR man for the New Zealand Forest Owners Association.
Carson caught up with The Country's Jamie Mackay for a chat about what the proposal actually means and how he thinks the planting process will work.
There is some concern New Zealand is in danger of using up good pastural land for forestry. Carson says the land used will be in less productive areas and the hectares planted will not encroach on the land currently set aside for grazing.
Finally in today's interview Jamie and Don discuss the financial side of the proposal. Who will pay for these forests and who will own them?
