Yesterday in Dunedin Greens leader James Shaw said in an interview with the Otago Daily Times that he has a hankering to get his hands on the primary industries portfolio in a Labour-led government.
Today on The Country he told Jamie Mackay that this "kind of just slipped out," but if he did become Minister for Primary Industries he would focus more on the nitrate levy than a water tax.
Shaw also says he has had some positive feedback from people saying they prefer the Green policy because they'll be able to avoid the water charge.
