For the second year in a row, the FMG Young Farmer of the Year will not screen on television due to a lack of interest from the two main national networks.
TVNZ and TV3 have both declined the opportunity to screen the 50th season of the Contest despite its iconic status and continued popularity.
Contest chairperson Dean Rabbidge spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay today saying the decision was "disappointing," and apparently "we're not sexy enough for reality TV."
Rabbidge says the FMG Young Farmer of the Year has too much integrity and mana to play the reality TV game and will stay with the live streaming option.
