Farmers affected by Mycoplasma bovis are facing emotional and financial strain and will need support as they fight the cattle disease.
Regional leader Andrew Reid spoke to The Country Early Edition's Rowena Duncum about how DairyNZ is helping farmers cope with the pressure of Mycoplasma bovis.
Reid is in charge of DairyNZ's internal response to M. bovis, "to ensure we've got the right people, in the right places, doing the right things."
A big part of the response is providing assistance to dairy farmers nationwide, says Reid, "particularly around the farm systems side of things that allow them to keep farming, within the limitations of what the biosecurity act allows them to do."
DairyNZ has a series of initiatives (including events and farm specialist support), for regions throughout the country, says Reid, who urges farmers to attend the Mycoplasma bovis roadshows starting in Morrinsville on Friday.
