Another South Canterbury farm has tested positive for Mycoplasma bovis which brings the total of farms affected by the cattle disease to 18.
Opposition leader Bill English spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay saying MPI is making every effort to contain the spread of M. bovis with the help of the farming community.
English defends New Zealand's biosecurity record when he was Prime Minister saying, "When you're dealing with biosecurity and millions of people coming over the border...you have to take a risk related approach because you simply can't cover everyone and everything."
Also in today's interview Bill English comments on the employment reforms of the new government.
