The Country: This week the PM ponders the visit by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and the 30th anniversary of NZ going nuclear-free. He also defends MPI's handling of the Bonamia threat to Bluff oysters.

It is 30 years since New Zealand decided to go nuclear-free. Prime Minister Bill English says that at the time this was a controversial decision from National's point of view as it jeopardised our relationship with the United States.

Speaking of the States, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited recently and some critics have commented that Bill English was too soft on him regarding America pulling out of the Paris Climate Accord.

English told The Country's Jamie Mackay this isn't the case and he let Mr Tillerson know that he disagreed with their stance over climate change.

Also in today's interview the Prime Minister talks about the UK election and defends MPI's handling of the latest Bonamia disease threat to Bluff oysters.

Have a listen to the full interview in the audio clip above.
