The final GDT auction result for the 2017/18 season is a positive end to what has been a challenging year for the dairy industry.
Fonterra Chairman John Wilson spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay about Tuesday night's GDT auction and the prospect of a good forecast payout for 2018-19.
The GDT price index rose 1.9% from the previous auction two weeks ago and whole milk powder gained 0.2% to US$3,226 a tonne.
"It's good to see a good strong balanced GDT," says Wilson, who reports Fonterra farmers are "happy with how their farms are."
