Fieldays started from humble beginnings in 1968 at the Te Rapa racecourse and has grown into not only the biggest agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere, but also in the top 10 of its type in the world.
Next year Fieldays celebrates 50 years with "The Future of Farming" as its theme says chief executive Peter Nation who spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay today. The theme will "give a lot of people a lot of things to think about" says Nation and he hoped it will encourage exhibitors to bring new technology to the event.
Also in today's interview: Peter talks to Jamie about his recent stint to Agritechnica 2017 in Hanover where there were 2800 exhibitors and 450,000 visitors, including more than 100,000 from outside Germany.
