It was a school day with a difference when students brought along their favourite four-legged friends for the annual Hikuai School Pet Day.
This long-standing rural tradition is looked forward to by both children and parents, where animals big and small join pupils and their families for a fun day at school.
The dog agility course is always a crowd pleaser and this year was no exception, with even the lambs giving it a go!
Dressed in a sparkly tutu Panda the lamb drew smiles from the spectators as she paraded around the course with her young handlers.
An art exhibition was also part of the day, and pupils worked hard during the week preparing a selection of dioramas, model clay animals, manu tukutuku (traditional Maori kites), plus miniature gardens and playgrounds.
