Irrigation New Zealand is slamming what they call publicity stunts by anti-farming lobby groups dead-set against the Ruataniwha Dam in Hawke's Bay.
The national irrigation body is attacking the groups by taking out full page advertisements in newspapers in Hawke's Bay and Wellington.
It comes after a stunt by Greenpeace, who removed a site office from the dam's site in Tikokino and dumped it outside the Hawke's Bay Regional Council headquarters, 100 kilometres away, in Napier.
Irrigation NZ CEO Andrew Curtis says they've paid for the advertisements, because there is misinformation circulating around the community, generated by outside groups, that needs correcting.
He says the goal of these lobby groups is to create mistrust.
