Police believe several trophy deer antlers, ram horns and tahr heads found at a Dunedin property may have been stolen from South Otago and Southland properties.
Detective Sergeant Kate Bartlett, of Balclutha, said a search warrant executed at Green Island turned up several deer antlers, ram horns and chamois and tahr heads believed to have come from South Otago.
Senior Constable Murray Hewitson, of Owaka, had received seven complaints from the South Otago area in relation to missing trophy antlers and horns. He believed more may have been taken from the area, and Southland, as well.
About 30 antlers with skulls and 50 to 60 antlers removed from skulls were found.
Snr Const Hewitson was interested in hearing from anybody who saw a black or dark coloured Datsun ute with a white canopy on or around Saturday, October 7. It had four occupants.
