A Central Hawke's Bay farming couple has taken to crowd-funding to clean up and restore an important waterway on their property.
Greg and Rachel Hart have planted more than 105-thousand mainly native plants and trees on their Mangarara farm.
The couple's now trying to raise enough money to plant hundreds more around Horseshoe Lake, which is part of a 35 hectare wildlife sanctuary.
Greg Hart says they've raised about 13-thousand dollars so far, and have a week left to reach their goal.
He says even if it takes years, they'll keep going as the health of waterways in Hawke's Bay is important now more than ever.
