Baleage harvested adjacent to the Dannevirke Golf Course.

Baleage harvested adjacent to the Dannevirke Golf Course.

Baleage contractor Victor McBeth baled his first crop on Monday October 16 on Dannevirke Golf Club land adjacent to the11th hole at Tahoraiti.

He was baling for farmer Jules Cooke who farms near Woodville on Pinfold Road and has the lease on the golf club land.

He says it is good to get some grass put away about this time of the year and usually the Dannevirke property is dry enough to do it. Woodville pastures are still far too wet.

It was still touch and go for Victor, with an earlier attempt postponed as more rain appeared before cutting.

Monday's bales were conventional but Victor is hoping to get his tube wrapper into action soon to save $300 on 100 conventional bales by cutting plastic use by half.
