The man who died in a ute crash near Dunback has been named.

The man who died in a ute crash near Dunback has been named.

Police have released the name of the man who died after the ute he was travelling in rolled on a farm near Dunback on Sunday afternoon.

He was Craig Porter (50), of Palmerston.

A statement from police yesterday afternoon said

the serious crash unit continued to investigate the cause of the single-vehicle crash and WorkSafe had been advised.

At the time of the crash the vehicle's other occupant, a 21-year-old man, sustained moderate injuries.

He was flown to Dunedin Hospital.

Police yesterday also released the name of the man who died when his tractor collided with a car near Timaru on Monday morning.

He was 46-year-old Christopher John Murdoch, of Cave.

The Serious Crash Unit was investigating the crash on State Highway 8 between Pleasant Point and Timaru.

A police spokeswoman said the investigation into the crash was ongoing and police were seeking witnesses who saw the tractor, as it headed towards Timaru on the highway, between 7am and 8am.
