Widespread power outages across Taranaki are causing issues for farmers says Scott Walls.
Fonterra's regional head in Taranaki spoke to The Country's Jamie Mackay saying that although the region missed out on the brunt of the rain from Cyclone Gita, the wind caused havoc with trees downed and access to some farms cut off.
Walls says Fonterra is also working with the top of the South Island around Takaka and Kaikoura and reports his team has had "limited access" in and out of Takaka and are working on using a barge to get supplies to people, along with moving product out of the area.
Also in today's interview - Scott Walls talks about another steady GDT auction result, a new strategic partnership with A2 Milk and Richie McCaw helicoptering milk into schools.
