Carrfields Livestock: Good quality livestock at calf sales

These white faced bulls at $210/head topped the sale at Mangatainoka.

The quality of livestock was good at the first three feeder calf sales of September, but there was some fluctuation in price depending upon the number of buyers.

Just under 300 calves were up for sale.

Quality Friesian feeder bull calves sold for between $160/head and $200/head but there were bargains to be had as the buyers lost interest, having filled their quotas.

This mob of 40 3-week-old bull calves destined for Mangahei averaged $245/head at Carrfields sale September 5.

One woman was tempted by these, saying she might build another shed.

Top white-faced feeder bulls reached $225/head but averaged out over three sales at $145/head.

These red white-faced bulls sold for near top price of $215/head at NZ Farmer's Livestock sale on Monday.

Increasing numbers of beef crosses are coming on the market.

Carrfields Livestock had 40 3-week old Friesian bulls which ranged in price from $220-275.

The major buyer was delighted at the price, saying he hopes they will be off his property by November.
