Invercargill's Blue River Dairy appears set to cement its place in the Deloitte Fast 50 index for some time yet, given it expects to double its exports next year - to 15million cans of infant milk powder.
On Wednesday at an Auckland awards ceremony, Blue River Dairy won the New Zealand's Fastest Growing Exporter award and the Fastest Growing Agribusiness award, and was ranked fourth overall on the annual Deloitte Fast 50 index, following revenue growth of 938 per cent over two years.
Blue River makes infant formula from the milk of cows, goats and sheep, with no mixing of the proteins between species.
Blue River Dairy general manager Robert Boekhout said it was exciting times in the export infant formula market as demand for quality New Zealand-manufactured products increased, especially in China.
"We've used this demand and a global shift to alternative protein to significantly grow our business," he said.
