The 2019 Hawea Cavalcade will be launched by the event's organising committee on the evening of May 11 at the Hawea Community Centre.

Committee chairman Warren Hewson said the launch would be a good opportunity for locals to find out more about the cavalcade and what they could do to help.

The cavalcade will arrive in Hawea on March 2, 2019, with a grand parade, market day and "hoedown".

Around 500 cavalcaders plus their supporters are expected to descend on the Upper Clutha town for the cavalcade.

Mr Hewson has said profits from the cavalcade would go towards transforming the Hawea Domain into a community resource.
