The chief executive of Federated Farmers Graham Smith spoke to Jamie Mackay today on The Country about how to raise the public profile of farming.
Smith reckons Jamie's idea of eating lamb on Waitangi Day would be a good start. Graham wants to take this concept further and suggests Kiwis should get behind a "National Food or Agriculture Day" to give urban folk a taste of rural products.
Graham Smith also updates Jamie on what is happening for Federated Farmers, including earthquake recovery, water quality and getting the rural story out around New Zealand.
