Larvae of the Queensland fruit fly has been found in fruit collected from two properties in Grey Lynn, Auckland over the weekend.
The Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) said there were four properties in the central Auckland suburb that were receiving ground treatment for fruit fly.
No adult flies had been found over the weekend and the total number of fruit flies captured in Auckland remains at 14.
MPI said the operation to eradicate the Queensland fruit fly could take several months.
Queensland fruit flies have the potential to cause millions of dollars of damage to the horticulture industry.
