Horticulture NZ says it is "bitterly disappointed" the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has decided against eradicating the orange-spotted hadda beetle.
The pest devastates crops such as eggplant and potatoes overseas, but biosecurity officials yesterday said the costs of eradication would outweigh the estimated $100 million cost of the beetle to the industry.
