Yahoo is world's most popular Internet site

New figures show the most popular Internet site in the world is Yahoo.com.

The broadcast media research giant A.C. Nielsen has launched its global Internet audience figures, which show search engines and portals are the most popular places visited by web surfers.

The top ten sites include the Microsoft Network, Lycos, Altavista and Excite.

102 million people visited the Yahoo site in June.

The figures also show that on-line communities such as The Mining Company and Suite-101 are the sites where surfers stay longest.
