KEY POINTS:
Microsoft will release three updates for Windows Vista this week, in an effort to calm down some of the main complaints directed at the operating system.
Cnet's Beyond Binary blog said the patches, expected tomorrow, will address issues like performance, reliability and stability of Windows Vista, which has been on the market for nearly a year.
Many Vista adopters have moved back to the Windows XP operating system due to ongoing problems with compatibility with existing software and devices.
In September Microsoft announced that it plans to keep selling the older system until the end of June 2008, delaying a total move to the new system by five months and deviating from its original plan to phase out Windows XP by the end of January.
The second patch will deal with USB interaction, says the Cnet blog, particularly when machines wake from sleep or hibernation.
The final update deals with the Windows Media Centre part of the Home Premium and Ultimate versions of Windows Vista, and includes fixes for Xbox 360 intractability.
A service pack for Vista is expected next year, and will include the updates.
