One of New Zealand's longest-running online applications, the occupational health and safety management tool Whoosh, has been picked up for distribution across the Tasman.
Delphic Medical Systems has licensed Whoosh to Australian consultancy Work Solutions Group, which will sell it as "WorkSOL".
Jeremy Saunders, manager of Delphic subsidiary Whoosh Technology, said the application would continue to be hosted here by Whoosh on an SQL Server database. "The online application rental market is just starting to heat up," he said.
"Companies are turning to an ASP (Application Service Provider) like Whoosh because it's a low cost, secure, paperless solution.
"As far as the Health and Safety in Employment Act goes, you can sign up to Whoosh, build your accident and hazard databases, and you are legally compliant."
Whoosh was developed after a brainstorming session by Delphic staff in 1999 on the potential of ASPs. A version badged Fusionsafe was used by Fusion, the shortlived company which came out of the previous Government's reorganisation of the accident compensation system.
The largest customer so far is Air New Zealand, which has 7000 staff.
