Adobe Photoshop Elements:Adobe's Photoshop has been the Holy Grail of graphics design for as long as I can remember. There were only two problems: affording it (an arm and leg territory) and using it (about as user-friendly as Rubik's Cube). But Adobe's new shaved-down, tightened-up Elements addresses both these problems, so that legions of surfers with their noses pressed to the glass will now be able make their photos lie as undetectably as any ad agency's.
MarriedButBored: Count on the net to magnify our warts - MarriedButBored is a site designed to suggest there's no such thing as a happy marriage and to facilitate human infidelity on a global scale. The net has always had plenty of sites for those hungry for love, but only as long as they're single; now here's one specially for the wed. The hopelessly romantic will hate this new craze, as will those who regard the internet as the work of the devil.
Anoto: Scribbling on bits of paper still hasn't gone out of style. Desktops, laptops, handhelds are second choice when you need to draw that stroke of genius or capture an apercu in a hurry. So another geek fantasy comes true - digital handwriting. Anoto has developed a pen with a camera the size of a grain of sand mounted in its tip. It takes 100 pix a second to record coordinates, and can then transmit them via a Bluetooth transmitter to any other digital gizmo in the world. My mind is boggling already.
