Ububu: Pronounced YouBeYouBeYou, this powerful extension to Windows could represent the shape of operating systems to come. Ububu Universe allows you to replace plain boring Windows text folders with three dimensional planets that link to favourite web addresses, e-mails, documents or programs.
You can email your planets to friends, or download commercial offerings from the likes of Warner Brothers, Marvel Comics or MP3.com.
This is a very cool idea but local computer users on the nz.comp newsgroup have been debating the privacy implications of the website tracking information that is sent back to the Ububu mothership. Be careful to check the terms of service and privacy statement before downloading.
The Epic Cookies Page: A wealth of information and resources on Cookies provided by the Electronic Privacy Information Centre. Cookies are mostly harmless text files used to facilitate website navigation, but some may be collecting more information than many surfers would like.
Reaction: A local event/dining/music/technology and community site. Four years since its launch, Reaction is streets ahead of many better-known competitors. The site includes a virtual bar that is unusual as it attracts visitors.
