Fly the online skies
New Zealanders are flocking to the internet as a source of information about travel, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Since 2002, the number of regular users accessing information online about travel has increased by 85 per cent, the ratings agency says. Air New Zealand's website is the most popular among travel sites tracked by Nielsen, with users purchasing flights or just checking prices.
Surf's up
It should come as no surprise that those who surf the sea also surf the net, and it's even less surprising that they combine the two activities. New Zealand's "premier surf and beach website" tracks conditions across the country, and comes in as the third most popular travel site monitored by Nielsen. Gnarly.
One-stop shop
Travel-related services are the most popular category for online purchases, Nielsen says, with about 40 per cent of regular internet users having bought something in the category over the past year. New Zealanders are finding that Jasons, which focuses on New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific, is a good one-stop information repository for such services.
