Aimster: AOL releases a Napster lookalike - "the ultimate file-sharing tool" that uses Instant Messenger to trawl the AOL, MSN and Gnutella networks for the hottest new files. Can't see that genie re-entering the bottle anytime soon.
Catch a Moment: it's a worrying world out there, but now you can keep an eye on the kids at work and play no matter where you are. In conjunction with day-care centres and parents, Catch A Moment has sited webcams to take regular shots of activities; and posts them, unedited, to their secure website. Registration: $NZ30.
Netscape: here's another preview version of the browser that will ultimately become Netscape 6 (current version: 4.74). The newcomer offers customisable user interfaces, and they're running a contest to design new ones. See your name in pixels!
Klondike wap browser: speaking of browsers, Apache have just released one which lets you surf WML pages. Looks and feels just like a familiar HTML browser. Mobilise!
New Earth Time: the Orthodox calendar is a full 24 hours out of whack, and our own Gregorian one has always been a bit dodgy – should we start again with Mark Laugesen's NET? A Kiwi initiative to reset the world's clocks, with rather less chance of doing so than Swatch's Internet Time unless Mark happens to own a watch factory.
