VeriSign, the US company that manages dot.com and dot.net addresses as well as the global network's central directory computers, caused an outrage last week when it set up an online search service. Side-effects of the service included disabling junk email filters and networked printers. The body that oversees the internet read the riot act and VeriSign has agreed to pull the plug.
