Let Me Stay for a Day: Ramon Stoppelenburg, a penniless student from Holland, plans to travel the world and has created a website to persuade people around the globe to put him up for free.
"Some people work for years and save the money to go everywhere," said Stoppelenburg from his hometown of Zwoller.
"I want to do the same thing but without the budget." And it's worked in spades, quite apart from the offers of marriage (and other, more informal arrangements).
He's received almost enough offers to accommodate him for the rest of his life. Plus an American yacht-owner has offered to sail Ramon wherever he wants to go.
Log on and see the world.
How To Clean Anything: Now that Aunt Daisy's just a fading memory and even grandmothers these days aren't what they were, who do you call when you need to get rid of mineral deposits under the rim of the loo?
Click right this way. Who would have guessed I'd be able to banish the rust-ring on my Formica with non-gel toothpaste?
Muy Loco: Load up Macromedia's ShockWave (available onsite) and amuse yourself by playing online with any one of a parade of Latin-American techno-toys.
Bizarrely, you don't seem to be able to buy this freaked-out menagerie online, only at big American stores. The nearest Wal-Mart is miles from Herne Bay.
