A new app being positioned as the "Tinder for air travel" is promising to connect passengers who want to hook up in the sky.
AirDates, the world's first in-flight dating app, which is still being tested, encourages users to upload their travel itinerary so they can arrange to get together with passengers on their flight, such as at the airport or on the plane for some mile-high action.
Passengers can use it to just chat to other people, if X-rated romps in the plane toilet isn't quite their thing.
According to Engadget, the app will use multipeer Wi-Fi between smartphones, so users can skip the aircraft's Wi-Fi network.
While some might be unnerved by the potential risks associated with disclosing their entire travel itineraries to complete strangers, AirDates chief executive Michael Richard said a plane was actually the "safest place to have a date".
He told Engadget the amount of people crowded onto a flight "will eliminate any danger I can think of", and the app will let users to block anyone they felt intimidated by.
He also said the company was looking into the possibility of only allowing female users to initiate conversations to eliminate unwanted abusive behaviour.
Richard said the app would integrate with other platforms, including Facebook, Spotify and Pinterest.
According to its description on Apple's App Store, AirDates will get users to log in through Facebook and establish what kind of people, and when, they want to meet.
Users can check in at airports and browse the surrounding area to check for friends and potential dates, and then invite people to chat.
"Airports are always full of nice people and happenings ... The perfect place for dating, while waiting to get on board. The magic is broken, once you realise that you are sitting on the other side of the aircraft," the app's description reads.
"With AirDates app the magic stays with you on board, allowing you to continue your chat with NO INTERNET CONNECTION ... Irrelevant of the flight duration, you can get to know each other, start to share ideas and maybe even share more than a cab at destination ...".
