The new ACR ResQLink 406 MHz GPS personal locator beacon, described as the world's smallest and lightest, is now available here.
The unit features three levels of integrated signal technology: a global positioning system, a powerful 406MHz signal and 121.5MHz homing capability. It has been designed to relay quickly and accurately the user's position to a worldwide network of search and rescue satellites. A built-in strobe light also gives visibility during night rescues.
The ResQLink PLB, released at last week's boat show, is one of several ACR products that will be available here after a distribution deal between ACR and manufacturer and distributor Hutchwilco.
Hutchwilco managing director Gary Sutton says the agreement with ACR is a perfect fit as both companies are industry leaders in the field of marine safety. "ACR Electronics has over 54 years of experience in developing, manufacturing and supporting life-saving products including EPIRBs, emergency locator transmitters, PLBs, search and rescue transponders, automatic identification systems and rescue strobe lights," he says.
"Through their combined technology expertise in the marine, aviation, outdoor and military markets, they design and manufacture cutting edge rescue beacons and survival gear for boaters, pilots, hunters, hikers and combat troops.
"They also supply many of the leading boat builders and aircraft manufacturers in the industry."
Founded in 1894, Hutchwilco is the country's oldest marine company and still one of its biggest. It makes and distributes a wide range of marine safety equipment, recreational and performance water sports products and boating accessories.
