PS3 (R18)
Pros: Taking on one of the greatest movies of all time in a video game is a bold move - unfortunately it falls stunningly short. Really nothing more than a GTA knock off, you take over as a Don in New York, enlist a family of thugs and drive around taking over business and fronts, beating and executing people in blood-spatteringly nasty fashion before repeating the recipe in Florida and Cuba. Gameplay is reasonably interesting until it becomes clear that you're just repeating tasks. Graphics are good, controls are well-conceived. The 'Don Map' interface - which shows your empire's progression through the city - works very well.
Cons: All vehicles handle extremely badly and third-person views get a bit unwieldy, plus Made members of your family don't always carry out your instruction well.
Verdict: This is not the game it should have been, and while it is entertaining as violin-case version of Grand Theft Auto, The Godfather II should be a weekend rental at best.
