Telecom has upped its 027 coverage north of Auckland.
It has invested $290,000 to extend its service between Puhoi and Warkworth along State Highway One.
Aside from voice calls, the new cell site at Pohuehue means customers in the area will have access to rich content 3G services like video messaging, three-way calling and info alerts.
"Consumers are increasingly reliant on mobile phones and mobile services in their daily lives," says Telecom's GM Consumer Marketing Kevin Bowler says.
"We recognise this and the new mobile site at Pohuehue will provide customers in the region with access to some of the most up-to-date mobile services available in New Zealand".
