Navman Wireless and Telecom have signed a new open-ended contract for Navman Wireless to provide the technology for Telecom's Locate+ vehicle management and fleet tracking system.
The initial contract, signed in 2004, was for five years and Locate+ now registers 8500 vehicles tracked in New Zealand.
Despite strong growth, both Telecom and Navman Wireless believed the GPS tracking market still had plenty of growth potential.
"By our reckoning the fleet vehicle market is currently only around 7 per cent penetrated," said Ian Daniel, Auckland-based vice president Asia Pacific and Latin America for Navman Wireless.
As part of the contract Telecom is increasing its efforts to promote Locate+.
