Britain's BT Group is hoping to make a dramatic return to the United States with a US$1 billion ($1.43 billion) acquisition of Californian telecoms group Infonet Services Corp, the Sunday Times reported.
The deal, which could be announced as early as today, signals a resumption of BT's drive to become a global force in telecoms after two ill-fated forays into the US which prompted wholesale asset sell-offs and a rescue rights issue.
